Ren Duarte, MA, Psy.D
I graduated from The Adler University of Professional Psychology in Chicago, IL with my
doctorate in Clinical Psychology. I have spent over 15 years working in Chicago Mental Health clinics and the State of Illinois hospital system. It was my work in the Salvation Army homeless shelters that inspired me to pursue a career in
psychology. There was an abundance of patients in the shelters who needed
guidance and counseling along with kind words and a
gentle holistic approach to healing, giving these patients hope for a better life.
My most rewarding experience was my volunteer work done at the Family Guidance Centers of Chicago for 8 years. I met so many
children and adolescents who inspired me to want to continue this line of work. I had the ability work with them on behavior and communication skills to succeed in school as well as at home. It is my belief that children are our future and any help I can offer to guide them to a better life would be one of my goals.
As my career progressed, I improved my language skills to include Spanish and
Portuguese. This has enabled me to communicate with the minority population.
I joined Midwest Wellness Center Associates in 2016. My collaboration with
Shalini Chawla, MD has shown me that listening is the key to learning. Having a deeper understanding of my patients needs and circumstances is a better way to help them through their healing process. Healing without medications through a
holistic approach has always been my goal for all my patients.
Psychotherapeutic techniques I use include:
- Individual therapy for adults, adolescents, and children
- Family therapy
- Couples counseling/Marital therapy
